2nd Bar + Kitchen Jalapeño Chicken Bahn Mi - This was the item I ate just before Tame Impala performed (yes, they played Elephant). This bahn mi had just enough spicy flavor from the jalapeño without overwhelming the tender chicken. The carrots and cilantro added a fresh element and crunch, while the spread was the perfect accompaniment. Not to mention the generous size made it perfect for sharing.
Chef Love's Woodshed Smokehouse Elk & Beehive Cheddar Sausage - Yes, I know this is a Fort Worth establishment, but we have to give Chef Love some love. This was one of our favorites from last year's fest and it ranked high this year as well. There is something about this sausage with the grainy (house made?) mustard and crunchy pickles that tastes like no other. Considering I went to Austoberfest last weekend and tried a slew of sausage, that is saying something. And since the sausage is served on a stick, fingers stay clean; a big plus.
Noble Sandwich Company Italian Pork Roast Sandwich - This sandwich that my husband ordered was our favorite item of the festival. It was delicate and hearty all at the same time. The pork was so tender and had great flavor definition. The bread was fresh and had just the right texture. This is Noble Sandwich Company's first time at the fest and they nailed it. Now I really can't wait until they open their Burnet Road location.
