The cocktail menu is broken down into three sections: Upbeat ("vibrant spirits, often shaken with citrus, seasonal fruits or light spices"), Downbeat ("brooding spirits, stirred with fortified wines, assertive liqueurs or amari") and Offbeat ("oddball spirits, flavors or textures that may be swizzled, flipped or whipped to perfection"). I had their namesake cocktail from the Upbeat section with vodka (you can choose between vodka, gin and tequila for this drink). Your choice of spirit is shaken with fresh celery, lemon and a génépy-based liqueur. It was a refreshing and aromatic blend that I thoroughly enjoyed. I foresee this cocktail being a big hit during the warmer months. My husband tried the local Sour Hefeweizer from Blue Owl Brewing and savored the flavor.
There is a food menu with a few gluten-free offerings (like Toasted Chickpeas and Oysters on the Half-Shell), a salumi and cheese board, salads, pâté and more, plus sweet confections. I look forward to sampling a few snacks from their food menu on my return. Backbeat is open Tuesday-Friday 4:00 p.m-2:00 a.m., Saturday and Sunday 2:00 p.m.-2:00 a.m.
