The third place winner was Chi'lantro's Kimchi Fries Beef. Described on their website as caramelized Kimchi, a mound of sizzling Korean BBQ, chopped grilled onions, cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese, cilantro, magic sauce, sriracha and sesame seeds. All set on top of a pile of crispy French fries. It sounds confusing, but believe me, somehow it works. The perfect snack before seeing Iggy and the Stooges.
Our second favorite food item was the Mighty Cone, which is an old favorite. We tried both the Shrimp and Chicken with avocado-both equally tasty depending on your preference. Each server from this booth wore a t-shirt that defined a Hot n' Crunchy Chicken Cone as "a tortilla cone with a spicy almond sesame crusted chicken tender atop a mango slaw with mango sauce". Satisfying and perfectly designed for consumption on-the-go.
Hands down winner as the tastiest food item at ACL this year is the Woodshed Smokehouse Elk and Beehive Sausage with house made mustard and pickles. The sausage had the perfect blend of spices and the zestiness from the slightly spicy mustard elevated it even further. It was juicy without being greasy. A simple sounding dish on a stick, but the absence of a bun allowed the flavor to shine through. (Cathy)
