There is a new grape in town called the cotton candy grape. Jim Beagle, CEO of Grapery (the company that came up with the cotton candy grape), is a reverse version of Willie Wonka by making fruit taste like candy. When I tried the cotton candy grape at Central Market, I couldn't believe my taste buds. It has the texture of a grape, it looks like a grape, but the flavor, smell and aftertaste is clearly cotton candy. I thought to myself they must be GMO. I brought home a package and began researching this new variety. I found this is not a GMO product, but a product of cross pollination of wild grapes. Completely natural and they even use organic fertilizers. Because of the buzz these grapes have created, supplies are limited, so don't wait too long to grab a bag. I am going to surprise the kids by putting them in their lunch boxes. They will feel like they are on the boardwalk or at the state fair. I am looking forward to trying another variety of grape called witch fingers. Sounds perfect for Halloween. (Gina)
The love of food and how it can bring people together led to the creation of this blog. As a mother of two grown boys, who have left the nest and occasionally return, I noticed a common occurrence-- there is usually someone at home who is hungry.
