Many people will spend time celebrating Halloween this week, but an event often overlooked occurs the day after. Dia de los Muertos, The Day of the Dead on Friday, November 1. The traditional Mexican holiday celebrating the departed souls of family and friends is a great time to gather together to eat, drink and reminisce. This week we will lay out a fitting dinner menu to share with friends. Today we start with dessert. This cuatro leches cake from Buenos Aires Café is our family's favorite dessert and it is phenomenal. Typically you find tres leches (or three milk cake), but this special dessert goes further with four types of milk: dulce de leche, sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk and heavy cream. It is so moist with just the right amount of sweetness. It is literally the best I have had in Austin. You can potentially order a whole cake if you call with 48 hours notice. A superb way to end any meal. (Cathy)
The love of food and how it can bring people together led to the creation of this blog. As a mother of two grown boys, who have left the nest and occasionally return, I noticed a common occurrence-- there is usually someone at home who is hungry.
