My friend Lisa lives around the corner from Fleet Coffee Co., so it is very easy to convince her to meet there when the opportunity arises. We visited there again recently and always enjoy the mellow vibe from this petite coffee shop that opened this spring. There is something about Fleet that reminds me of the coffee bars you find in Italy--compact, efficient, beautifully designed with rich, strong espresso drinks to get you through the day. I typically order a cappuccino or a latte, but they have recently changed up their menu and added some new items to the old favorites. I would love to try their Affogato with Gelateria Gemelli gelato and espresso; it sounds like such a decadent treat. Another new item, E.T., (tonic water, espresso, lime, simple syrup) was recently featured in Imbibe Magazine along with the recipe. Fleet uses Sweet Bloom, Wrecking Ball and Madcap coffee and they have beans available for sale, too. If you are hungry, grab a pastry or croissant with your drink. Fleet is open every day, 7:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. with indoor and outdoor seating. I am headed back soon to try that Affogato.
The love of food and how it can bring people together led to the creation of this blog. As a mother of two grown boys, who have left the nest and occasionally return, I noticed a common occurrence-- there is usually someone at home who is hungry.
