We went to check out Whisler's last weekend and loved the feeling of stepping back in time the minute you cross the threshold. The high ceilings, the stone walls (which had once been covered in plaster when it was Rabbit's bar), the dramatic centerpiece chandelier, the eclectic decor all somehow combine to transport you to another era. I ordered the Gluten-Free (apparently there were lots of ladies coming in requesting gluten-free cocktails, so they decided to add it permanently to the bar menu). It contains Tito's vodka, fresh made celery juice, fresh squeezed lime juice, and house made thyme simple syrup. Truly inspired. Other drinks from the cocktail menu that piqued my interest were the Weedwacker (Reposado tequila, house made peach-mint syrup, lemon, ginger beer) and Gin & Juice (Aviation gin, house made pomegranate-rosemary simple syrup, absinthe mist). Connected to the main indoor bar, there is an outdoor covered bar with ample seating. We had just finished dinner otherwise we would have definitely hit up The Dumpling Happiness trailer which had set up shop out back. One of many reasons to return to Whisler's. (Cathy)
The love of food and how it can bring people together led to the creation of this blog. As a mother of two grown boys, who have left the nest and occasionally return, I noticed a common occurrence-- there is usually someone at home who is hungry.
