Big Easy Bar & Grill at 1806 12th St. Austin, Texas 78702, 512-406-9237 (they are so new and under the radar they don't have a website or Facebook page yet) will be kicking up their heels today with Mardi Gras festivities. From the same owners as The Original New Orleans Po-Boy & Gumbo Shop; another good spot to celebrate Mardi Gras.
Cypress Grill has all-day specials on Hurricanes and Abita Beers, plus Hot Boiled Crawfish. In the evening, live music by Jean-Pierre and the Zydeco Angels, and a face painter for the kids.
Dai Due is celebrating Cajun Week starting today with King Cakes stuffed with apples and neufchatel cheese, topped with naturally dyed sugars with an East Texas hickory nut tucked inside for luck (you will need to call to reserve one for today). Sausages like andouille, chaurice and pig's head boudin will be found in the meat case and on the menu. Seafood gumbo with crawfish, oysters and fish will be on their lunch menu.
drink.well. features traditional New Orleans inspired cocktails and their signature King Cake twinkie. The guest who finds the baby in their twinkie gets a $25 gift card.
épicerie will have their wonderful beignets and French-Lousiana inspired cuisine. Abita beer will be flowing.
Evangeline Café has food, drinks and music from Choctaw Wildfire, Dan Holmes Group, and Charles Thibodeaux and The Austin Cajun Aces.
Sawyer & Co. has happy hour all day along with their usual Cajun style menu.
Whisler's will serve Mardi Gras style drinks like Sazerac, Hurricane, and Vieux Carre, as well as king cake and music.
Gumbo, beer and wine all day at Aviary Decor.

Carnaval comes later next weekend on Saturday, Feb. 28.
Chinese New Year:
Chinatown Restaurant on MoPac has a ticketed event with a full buffet, traditional Chinese New Year dragon and lion dance, and firecracker display in the parking lot.
Chinatown Shopping & Cuisine Center is holding off to celebrate the new year in a big way on Saturday, February 21. The Dragon and Lion Dance Teams will perform throughout the day, along with drums, martial arts, rides, face painting, magic show, and a fireworks display. The fun happens 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.
