The second visit was for late breakfast the following Sunday. We got there just in time to order from the breakfast menu (served until 12:00 p.m.). I had the Chorizo and Egg with cheddar and salsa picante. The person who took my order urged me to try it on a challah bun. It was fantastic. The bun is homemade (as are all the bread selections), buttery, light and fluffy. The egg was perfectly cooked and the chorizo gave it a kick. My son had the dossiant with strawberry filling. Seems to be another take on the cronut, but it is so much more. Light, sugary layers of pastry combined with the lovely filling made it a real treat (I was lucky to even get a bite). I was told that the dossiant is also available with a lemon filling. I really want to go back to explore their breakfast menu further. All of the waffles items sound incredible, not to mention the grits with ham hocks.
My most recent visit was lunch with a friend last week. The place was busy, but we got through the line quickly and our order arrived faster than expected. I had the Smoked Duck Pastrami with Russian dressing and rye pickles. The duck pastrami is like none I have ever tasted. A singular flavor that is lean and not too salty. My friend had the Curried Egg Salad with soy pickles, roasted garlic, mayo and spinach. The bite I had was very good, but I could not really detect the curry seasoning. My friend enjoyed it, but confessed it was a tad rich, most likely due to the mayo. It might be a good sandwich to split. Just about everything at Noble Sandwich is made in house. Homemade pickles, bread, cookies, as well as meats cured in house. I think the only exception to this rule is the potato chips, but they do add salt, pepper and garlic to give the chips their special touch. Chef John Bates came by during my first lunch visit to say hi and make sure everything tasted good. He seemed happy and excited to be in the new location and talked about the possibility of evening happy hours on the weekend and maybe even dinners. He said he would let the customers dictate that. If the demand is there, they would consider it. We are so very happy to have Noble Sandwich Co. just down the street. (Cathy)
