The staff at Patika is very friendly and professional, bringing your coffee order to your table and clearing finished plates. They really go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and at-home in the shop. The S. Lamar location has evening hours with beer and wine available in addition to bites. Bar food includes: charcuterie and cheese plates served with Easy Tiger bread, classic bar snacks like nuts and popcorn, flatbreads, spreads, and desserts like crème brulee. Of course coffee is available in the evening, but there are non-coffee drinks as well like hot and iced teas, Italian sodas, chai, and house-made hot chocolate.
Patika offers a multi-roaster selection of coffee, including local Cuvee Coffee. In addition, they have French press coffee and their own formula of cold-brewed iced coffee. Getting back to the in-house made pastries (which seems like a real novelty in Austin coffeehouses these days), there is a rotating selection of offerings such as mushroom, leek, and bleu cheese foldovers; chipotle, bacon, and corn muffins; blueberry basil muffins; lemon lavender cookies; browned butter, chocolate chunk cookies; and a mixed berry breakfast cake. Truly, Patika has somehow managed to combine the best of everything in one space: incredible coffee, fresh baked in-house pastries, great ambiance, the perfect soundtrack, fine staff, a nice outdoor space, plus wine, beer and bites in the evenings. I look forward to my return visit to Patika to try more of their stellar pastries and to drop in one evening for a drink before or after dinner. (Cathy)
