*Easy Tiger Bakeshop Five Grain Bread (great for sandwiches, toast or on its own) and Walnut Levain (perfect as a snack with honey or for use when making french toast).
*Confituras Blackberry Jam and Summer Berry Jam (a combination of blackberries and strawberries). Heaven on the above mentioned bread.
*Peaches from Markley Family Farm in New Braunfels. Very sweet and ripe.
*Assorted (red, yellow and purple) cherry tomatoes from Blackland Prairie Family Farm in Round Rock. I cooked them up with garlic and herbs and served atop pasta for dinner--so good.
*Eggs from Milagro Farm in Red Rock. I always marvel at the intense, bright orange-yellow color of the yolks and how uniformly they cook when frying in the pan. Art in nature.
*Flower arrangement from Prickly Pair Farm in Lampasas made a nice Father's Day gift. Dads like flowers, too!
*Apple Lemon Ginger Shrub from Shrub Drinks out of San Antonio. This is my first time to discover this company that hand makes these small batch vinegar based drinks. I know, I was a skeptic too (I had never tried drinking vinegar), but they are very generous with samples and with that first sip I was hooked. I made a refreshing drink of half apple lemon ginger shrub and half Topo Chico served with a sprig of mint and it was so flavorful and delicious. The shrubs work well in drinks (both with and without alcohol), marinades, sauces and vinaigrette. I think I know what our Friday drink post will contain this week.
*Achiote Wild Boar taco with jalapeno salsa and onion, and a mango agua fresca from Dai Due. Consistently great tasting food. Love that they wrap their tacos in two tortillas to avoid breakage, because they genuinely care. I learned that they are currently on track for a July opening of their new restaurant on Manor Road. This means they will be taking a break from the market for a while to get the new location up and running. Keep an eye on the website or Facebook page to find out more on that front. (Cathy)
