Last week Gina presented some ideas for your Thanksgiving tabletop. This week we continue in that vein, looking at more ways to decorate the table for the special feast. Some trends we have noticed around town include skipping the formality, yet keeping a few select, special touches like napkin rings and chargers. Show off the surface of your table and abandon the tablecloth. Highlight wood by adding wooden candle holders and serving dishes. Pottery instead of fine china is perfectly acceptable, especially since there is less hand washing required. Use classic glass stemware, or more pottery. Finally, add color to the table with deep jewel tone napkins, a centerpiece of fruit and vegetables (think figs, grapes, pomegranates, artichokes and apples), fresh flowers or branches with colorful leaves. Relax, have fun with it and, to reduce stress, make a plan to execute a few days in advance. More tablescape coverage next Tuesday. (Cathy)
The love of food and how it can bring people together led to the creation of this blog. As a mother of two grown boys, who have left the nest and occasionally return, I noticed a common occurrence-- there is usually someone at home who is hungry.
