If we are what we eat, I want to be Hopdoddy's Truffled Mac & Cheese Burger or maybe the Buffalo Bill. I can't decide. Hopdoddy has one of the best burgers in Austin. They start with fresh ground, all natural ingredients. Humanly raised, hormone free, antibiotic free, PGA Premium Gold Angus beef headquartered in Austin. They bake their own buns and hand cut Kennebec potatoes for the fries. A majority of their ingredients are sourced locally or regionally, such as Thunderheart Bison, Johnson Backyard Garden (see May 24, 2012 post) and Kitchen Pride Mushrooms to name a few. The menu is not typical, in fact it is a combination of mouthwatering ingredients from truffle aioli and field mushrooms to basil pesto or sassy sauce. You can add extras to your burger like a fried farm egg or apple smoked bacon. They offer two salads--Caesar and Spinach. I tried the Hail Caesar which was delicious--it includes spicy fried chick peas and potato hay. Interesting touch. And the Hops menu is equally impressive, sure to satisfy particular beer lovers. Now with two locations, one on South Congress and the recently opened location on Anderson, it is now much easier to get your burger fix. We left stuffed. Next time we will split the burger so we can try the shakes. Caramel and Sea Salt or Nutella and Pretzel just to name a few...I can't decide. (Gina)
The love of food and how it can bring people together led to the creation of this blog. As a mother of two grown boys, who have left the nest and occasionally return, I noticed a common occurrence-- there is usually someone at home who is hungry.
