The new city ordinance banning single use plastic bags in grocery stores and retail shops goes into effect on March 1. That gives us less than a month to train ourselves to bring those bags with us when we go grocery shopping (tip: keep them in the front seat of your car). Are you ready? Here are all the details about the ordinance from the city, just in case you need clarification. Many of you probably already shop with reusable bags, but in case your bags are old and need replacement, here are a few options we came across recently from shops in town.
We found these great Baggu 100% ripstop nylon bags at Spartan. The fact that they fold up for easy storage and they hold up over time (I have been using mine for about 6 years now) make them some of the best out there. Plus they hold an unbelievable amount of items. They are easy to wash and quick drying.
Here is a cute bag Gina found at Madewell (available in the Austin store). This little canvas number is a bit smaller than your average bag, but perfect if you only need to pick up a few items.
These graphic oil cloth bags from Central Market are roomy, easy to clean and fun. They'll put a smile on your face while shopping. (Cathy)
The love of food and how it can bring people together led to the creation of this blog. As a mother of two grown boys, who have left the nest and occasionally return, I noticed a common occurrence-- there is usually someone at home who is hungry.
